Missions

Our community outreach programs are designed to help those in need.

We don't require that you belong to any particular religious affiliation or financially support our organization in any way. We only ask that you return one good deed with another and perform an act of kindness for another. In this way, the cycle of compassion and goodwill continues indefinitely.

Our mission is to spiritually uplift our community, and work toward a greater good. We work tirelessly to feed the hungry and clothe the poor. We help those seeking spiritual healing and enlightenment find the path to a higher power. Our faith-based outreach serves people of all races, creeds, and religions. We support our fellow man, and serve as a guiding light.

We welcome you with open arms. Please inquire today about how you can become a cherished part of our faith-based family.

Local Missions are headed by Margaret Montgomery. Our Scholarship Commitee is headed by Madonna Frisch. Please contact them with any questions, suggestions or interest you may have.

Scholarships Available

Are you graduating from high school this year and planning to enroll in a 2-year or 4-year college?
Maybe you are graduating and have plans to enroll in a specific career school, technical school or trade
school. Or, possibly, you graduated from high school years ago, but are looking to change careers or
pursue that career that you have thought about for years and need additional education. If you are an
active member of Lower Church and fit into any of those categories then you are eligible for a
scholarship from Lower United Methodist Church or Lower United Methodist Women.
The Scholarship Committee awards scholarships to all qualified applicants each year. These scholarships
are funded from five scholarship funds- the Rachel Bridger Scholarship, the Laura McIntyre Scholarship,
the Piankatank Shores Scholarship, the Miles Scholarship and the Rosser Memorial Scholarship. Each
scholarship is renewable for up to 4 years if you meet eligibility requirements. You don’t want to miss
out on this opportunity!
Scholarship applications are available for download HERE, in the church office, or by
contacting Susan Chaney at [email protected]. All applications, along with supporting documents,
must be returned to the church office by May 1, 2026.

The Martha-Sarah Circle of the United of Women in Faith meets the second Tuesday of each month at 10:00 in the Fellowship Hall. All women are invited.

What does it mean to be involved? “United Women of Faith seeks to connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship, and education that they can inspire, influence and impact local and global communities.”

During the year, the our United Women of Faith have monthly programs, carry on the church’s card ministry, support the Cinderella Project, organize the Angel Tree, support Operation Christmas Child Boxes, provide scholarships, hold fund raisers such as the pecan sales, and support local and foreign mission projects.
